The expressive potential of Aristotelis Tzakos is not confined solely to the conventional media οf expression in painting. The artist, with his creative talent, has demonstrated that he is capable of working equally successfully with new materials and in a range of techniques. Minimisation of the specifications imposed on him allows the artist scope for freedom, while new materials and different techniques make it possible for there to be a more profound, organic bond between the technique applied by the artist and the things which he wishes to express.
ln the composition we see here, Aristotelis Tzakos organises his material (Post-it notes) in rhythmic, geometrical patterns, in shades οf colour and in a combination of shapes with strict outlines which Ιοοm up and disappear in their quest for the power of motion. This is a dynamic construction whose geometric nature and mobility attract the viewer’s interest and attention. The interplay οf the chiaroscuro in the composition creates a vibrato of light and shadow.
The viewer may well wonder whether the artist actually had the concept of movement in mind when building his successive planes of Post-it notes with horizontal and perpendicular movements. We can be sure, however, that the aesthetics which he controls, his psychological state at the given moment, and his instinct were the factors which led him to produce these specific mutations of movement, allowing the viewer both to recognise the work and react positively to it.
